Dakar

Travel diary

The journey Banjul-Dakar has been the highlight of the trip.

Traveling with local as locals do:

  • Taxi to the ferry in Banjul
  • 2 hours waiting for a ferry
  • 2 hours cruise to cross a... river!
  • 10 hours on taxi to Dakar

Total: 15 hours to cover 300km.

And a journey surrounded by the real humanity of West-Africa, what you won't get in the resort.

Exhausting but recommended!

We stop in Dakar for one day and I wasn't impressed. It's a crowded city and you have to watch out from people approaching.

Most of them are friendly, some aren't. My friend found an hand in his pocket!

Absolutely to see Goree Island, just 20 minutes away by ferry.
